Julie Burstein's talk on 4 lesson in creativity

This is Julie Burstein that had a talk on 4 lessons in creativity.

Here is my reflections when i was listening to her speaking:

She talked about creativity grows to which I had the thought that it is true. Especially if we're in an environment with limited resources to use, we will then start to use our own creativity to try to survive. For example living in the jungle with just waterproof lights and knifes. We can use the knife to chop down tree branches and make a sword out of it so that it can be used for hunting fishes in the sea along with the waterproof light(to use when hunting at night as fishes are lesser active thus easier to hunt for them). And also make small hut with the use of tree branches as the walls and leaves as the coverage.

Paying attention to the world around us, before she starts talking more about it. I just have another thought that is people know a days have electronics devices to distract them from everything even dangers! I read a news about commuters in Taiwan MRT they were all using phones that they didn't realized that there was a male stabbing other commuters. In the end some of them were also injured. If they weren't using phones, they would have seen what happened and tried to stop the male or even evacuate.

Having an open mind is indeed important especially to artist when now, the world is changing and different people from different countries have different cultural that we might not be used to it. If we don't have an open mind, I feel that it's going to be difficult to get along with people or getting to know them.

Pushing through the limits need us to let go something that we cherish sometimes but that doesn't mean we cannot do something related. For example the artist that was mentioned, he gave up painting but he did not give up art instead by giving up painting, it made him who he is today who is well known for his huge installation that make us the subject.

Lost... I have not really went though lost of someone or been through natural disasters(just minor shakes of the earthquake). I really respect the photographer that went through so much just to get a green light from the authorizes to get near the World Trade Center at the time of disaster. Indeed sometimes we need to feel the lost to make or show something beautiful just like the photos that were taken by him. It's beautiful but at the same time it tells a story.
